Tis the Season
This is the season for gift giving! Enjoy it! Try not to be stressed. Remember it is special treat to pick out that perfect gift for that beloved friend or family member. There are so many shopping opportunities for the shopper this time of year. The stores are having big sales. Super sales on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Isn't the hunt fun? This is all well and good but, if you want to get something different, something unusual, try the local Holiday Craft and Vendor shows. I have been selling many of my Christmas items at such places this season. I make sure before the doors open to the customers that I get around to the other tables to look at all the wonderful and unusual items people have to sell. I have seen bracelets made from antique silver flatware, glass blown hot air balloons, metal ornaments from a co-op in Bali, and handbags made from woven juices boxes collected by the weavers' children in Korea. What wonderful awe-inspiring gifts! Many of my friends and family have been delighted receivers of such treasures found at the local Craft Show. Most papers list these events held by fire houses, churches, and schools. You will not be disappointed! Enjoy the hunt!

The Housewarming Gift
You have been invited to a friends new home for the first time. What do you bring? A safe and most common gift is a bottle of wine or a plant or flowers. These are especially good if you do not know their taste. But would it not be more fun to bring something different? Perhaps a pillow with a nice saying stitched on it or some sachets in a basket. Recently I found a gift idea I am very excited about and is perfect for this Autumn season. I ordered some lovely autumn leaf shaped soaps. Each leaf is for a one time use. I arranged them in a lenox type shallow dish, put it in a clear wrap and tied it up with a pretty orange bow and fall flower pick! Voila! Something different and useful. I will post the link to these lovely soaps in my "site to share" below.

A new adventure for the College Freshman.
Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles all help with the college freshman's necessities. There are bed linens, shelves, computers, books and towels to buy. Here are a few other ideas you may want to consider.
* A gift card to Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts nestled inside a thermal mug. Coffee is great for late study nights!
* A carry-all tote filled with toiletry items so they can just grab it and bring it to the bathroom.
* A good backpack is a must. Fill it with useful items such as insulated lunch bags, water bottles, and a Sudoku or word puzzle book to play with between classes.
* A photo album filled with all the people that matter.
* A box of funny and/or inspirational notes if a "pick me up" is needed.
Don't forget to wrap it up nicely, after all, this is a very special time.

Treats for the Traveler
I am just back from a road trip vacation. Though being away is nice, there is nothing like one's own bed. I have to share with you this idea my sweet daughter did for us. Before we left, she stopped over with the most adorably decorated gift bag showing all modes of travel. Inside she had put Popcorn to pop in a hotel microwave, large cups to hold the popcorn, tea bags, hard candies, granola, napkins and wipes, and a small candle in glass to perfume a stuffy room. We made use of everything in that thoughtful bag. So next time you know of someone taking a trip, why not do the same?
I am a big fan and owner of Steuben Glass. Since we stopped at the Corning Museum, this will be my site to share in this blog.

Wedding Gift Idea
A friend and her husband gave a thoughtful wedding present for my second wedding. The gift was a beautiful basket holding 2 wine glasses, a bottle of wine, and a gift certificate to be used at any Marriott Hotel. The attached note said it was to be used for "Our First Anniversary". What a perfect gift for a couple who did not need any of the typical "just starting out" gifts. What a wonderful gift to look forward to and enjoy it we did!

Presentation is everything!
.....brown paper packages tied up with strings, these are a few of my favorite things.... Anticipating what is inside a beautifully wrapped gift is part of the receiving process. I loved Christmas morning when finally allowed out of my room to see what Santa had left. So many pretty packages under the tree greeted me! I loved to look and shake and guess what surprise each pretty parcel may hold. I love receiving packages with lovely bows to untie. A dear friend of mine gives such creative baskets of gifts. My daughter and I look forward to our birthday baskets each year from Nancy. So next time you gift a gift put some thought into how you want to present it. That extra special touch will make the experience extra special.

The joy of giving. When we love, we give.
We love to give to those we love. Planing on what gift to give lets us reflect on what our relationship to that person is like. How much we care about that person dictates how much effort we want to go through in finding that gift. Just thinking about the person can give us very pleasant feelings and excitement anticipating what they will say when they receive their gift. It should be a joyful experience all around!

My first blog
Hi! I am Linda of "Lindy's Cove" (www.lindyscove.com). I started this company in April after being downsized in the Corporate World. So..... since I love people and I love giving gifts, why not try an online gift store? I truly believe gift giving is an art. People have always loved the gifts I have given them. I love the search for the "special" gift for that "special" person. One way to be a successful gift giver is to listen. For example, one friend of mine said how she loved alpacas and was looking for a necklace of one but could not find it anywhere. I squirreled that info away and a few months later I came across a silver alpaca necklace on Ebay. Karen was especially happy with her Christmas present that year!
I have used Ebay on many an occasion to find that rare gift. My husband has a love of Lithuanian books. I was able to get a whole set of Lithuanian Encyclopedias. He was thrilled!
In this blog, I hope to share some gift giving ideas and ways to become the perfect gift giver. I hope it helps with all your gift giving!
